Here, I’m giving a little introduction about web server packages. To make PHP websites, now a days we are using packages like lamp, xampp, wamp and mamp. These packages act as a local servers and with this we can see our working website without uploading it first. If you are using any of this package there’s no need to install any other as they contail all the required facilities within it. The basic packages used are:
1. LAMP: This is called as Linux Apache MySQL and PHP (sometimes Perl or Python). This is basically used for Linux operating system.
2. WAMP: This stands for Windows Apache MySQL and any of PHP or Perl or Python. As the first word suggest it is used for Windows operating system.
3. MAMP: This is used for Mac OS.
4. XAMPP: This cross-platform web server solution stack package, consisting mainly of the Apache HTTP Server, MySQL database, and interpreters for scripts written in the PHP and Perl programming languages.
It will be good to use XAMPP as Self-contained, multiple instances of XAMPP can exist on a single computer, and any given instance can be copied from one computer to another. It is offered in both a full, standard version and a smaller version. It also provides for creating and manipulating databases in MySQL and SQLite among others.
Start using it. Make your own websites and share your memories/experinces/work there with the world.
